Out now, ‘Tombstone’ is Hot 8 Brass Band’s third LP. The second installment in a two-album set, it closely follows it’s counterpoint to the straight-up party side of the band showcased on ‘The Life & Times Of…’. Thematically a more sombre, emotional record, it presents another chapter in the history of the Hot 8 Brass Band – a new window onto the lives, the friendships, the heartbreaks, the roots and culture of New Orleans brass music and its players. The majority of the songs are personal dedications, in memory of the four Hot 8 band members, and other musicians and dear friends, who have passed away. And those that aren’t dedication songs are new, original Hot 8 jams, party tunes that remind us – and the band – of why the music is worth it all; setting the scene for where the band are at today, while their city and its people still bear the scars of Hurricane Katrina, and where they are carrying the spirit next.

The phenomenal reception to both Quantic & Alice Russell's 'Look Around The Corner' and Alice Russell's 'To Dust' has been a real boost to both of their profiles, most notably their online presence. As the consumption of music changes, we are continually finding that YouTube is a serious player in the way people listen to music, and with a flash video to accompany it can gather a lot of attention. To date we have seem a monumental response to the Look Around The Corner and Heartbreaker videos. As it stands, viewing figures stand at:

Since Ty signed to Full Thought Publishing in January he's been extremely busy. In the lead up to the release of Kick Snare and An Idea Part 1 (out now on Tru Thoughts), he was playlisted on MTV Base and BBC 6 Music, he's also found time to pop in and chat to Huey Morgan on BBC 6 Music (listen again) and DJ 279 on Choice FM (listen again). Tonight you can catch Ty live at the Jazz cafe with limited tickets left (link).
Ty's new material is taking the mercury nominated rapper to new and exciting levels. The lead track on the single, “Like You Never”, is a deep and multi-layered cut that finds Ty setting out his stall and airing his concerns about the state of his beloved music scene today, his philosophical and measured flow carried up on a euphoric melodic hook to a resolute chorus. Two more brand newies showcase Ty’s fabled versatility: the sparse, loping beat and laid-back fluidity of “Knock Knock”, and “Playing With Fire” with its staccato delivery over a melodic, dreamy soundscape. The latter track features celebrated rapper and poet Akala and grime MC Durrty Goodz.

Full Thought are very pleased to announce that the wonderful Youngblood Brass Band have signed their upcoming publishing rights to us. The nine piece brass/electronic ensemble make a variety of music, mixing elements of hip hop, traditional brass band, improv & punk. The first single ’20 Questions’ will be out on June 3rd, to be followed by their new album ‘Pax Volumi’, out in July on Tru Thoughts Records.
The nine-member ensemble hail from all over America (Madison, New Orleans, New York, Nashville, Minneapolis, Chicago) and have been unleashing their crash course in hip-hop/brass band/improv/punk on stages worldwide since 2000. What other band can claim the honour of having their music spun by DJs like ?uestlove (of The Roots), working with hip hop luminaries like Talib Kweli, having their original compositions performed by student marching bands and jazz ensembles around the globe, and still not be out of place on an all-punk bill? What other band brings together the ostensibly disparate worlds of the trombone geek and the backpacking b-boy?
Get in contact with mail@fullthought.co.uk if you're interested in using some of the Youngblood Brass Band's material. In the meantime you can check out the video for ’20 Questions’ below:

‘Neon Hurts My Eyes’, out now, is Natural Self’s fourth album. Three years in the making, the LP unveils a striking departure for the producer and DJ as he takes on the role of singer-songwriter fully for the first time.
His inventive sonic landscape, a highly poised confection of beats, bleeps and noises drawn from a vast textural palette, is now more redolent of Radiohead and the Beta Band; while a tight, melodic pop-but-not-pop sensibility aligns the songs with Little Dragon or James Blake. Having previously enlisted guest singers including Andreya Triana for main vocals, here Natural Self lays himself bare. Immersive and synth-heavy, this is electronic music with warmth and heart, a sense of being at once futuristic and nostalgic as it explores themes of technology, the environment, the passing of time and our place in the world.
Full Thought publish Natural Self, so get in contact if you're interested in using any: mail@tru-thoughts.co.uk

Check the video for ‘Like You Never’ below, the first taste of that EP.
With a reputation built on his original style and refusal to hop on any industry bandwagon, Ty is best known for his lyrical frankness and honest portrayals of everyday life, setting him aside from many mainstream hip hop acts and allowing him complete artistic independence. Earlier this year we announced that Full Thought was looking after the publishing for Marcus Intalex and his house headed alter-ego Trevino. So it's with great excitement that we announce the release of Trevino's FACT Mix - being picked to compile a FACT mix highlights just how important Marcus's output is to electronic music at the moment, and it's certainly a great way to round off the year.
Here's what FACT had to say: "2012 has been a remarkable year for Trevino: ‘Chip’ was followed by the three-track Tactical Manoevre EP (both released on Martyn’s 3024 label), while releases also arrived on Ben Klock’s Klockworks, [Nakedlunch], The Nothing Special and Kaye’s own Revolve:r label. Perhaps Kaye’s finest moment yet as Trevino, the sinister ‘Under Surveillance’, found a home on Apple Pips." (link)

Full Thought Publishing was formed in 1999 alongside Tru Thoughts Records, and subsequently its hip hop offshoot Zebra Traffic. Since its inception, the publishing company has expanded from initially supporting musicians on Tru Thoughts and Zebra Traffic who were also released on other labels, to its current position as an independent company working Tru Thoughts’ catalogue amongst a list of artists and musicians.
The development of the company has been helped by Tru Thoughts diverse music policy. The eclectic catalogue has attracted a huge number of clients, enabling them to source a variety of music from one place. Musically, Tru Thoughts covers contemporary funk, soul, jazz and hip hop. The quality control of the releases on the labels has been passed to Full Thought Publishing, whose policy is to increase its roster with forward-looking new music, whilst ensuring its artists get equal attention on the roster. Bringing in acts varying from singer-songwriters, drum n bass acts to New Orleans brass bands means the roster remains wide and interesting - attracting more synch companies, advertising agencies, album compilers, and TV and radio contacts.
The policy of Full Thought Publishing, as reflected in Tru Thoughts and Zebra Traffic, is the motivation of working music to bring in revenue and increase profile for the long term career benefits of its artists. As an independent company, Full Thought Publishing is not limited by any restrictions and is significantly financed by the success of the music it promotes.
